National Timber Tax Website
Resource for landowners, as well as a reference source for accountants, attorneys, consulting foresters and other professionals who work with timberland owners by answering specific questions regarding tax treatment of timber.

Penn State Natural Resources Extension
Extension helps people make informed decisions that improve their own well-being and ensure clean water, viable populations of native wildlife, recreational opportunities, attractive communities, and the sustainable production of wood and paper products. In addition, through 4-H, Natural Resources Extension educates youth about ecology and the environment. The site includes numerous publication on wisely using and caring for your land.

Penn State School of Forest Resources
The School has three missions of resident education, research, and outreach in Forest Science, Wildlife and Fisheries Science, and Wood Products.The School currently consists of 41 faculty members, 30 staff members, 120 graduate students, and 315 undergraduate students.

Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry – Landowner Resources
The Bureau of Forestry provides professional forestry guidance and technical assistance to landowners. The site also contains information of common trees of Pennsylvania, ATV information, and recreation opportunities on state forests.

Penn State Extension Pennsylvania Forest Stewards
The Pennsylvania Forest Stewards volunteer program, formerly known as VIP-Coverts – a Volunteer Initiative Project, trains volunteers in the principles of forest stewardship so they can share what they learn with forest landowners throughout Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Forestry Association
The Pennsylvania Forestry Association is a broad-based citizens organization, provides leadership in sound forest management advice and education and promotes wise stewardship to private land owners, resulting in benefits for the residents of the Commonwealth.

Sustainable Forestry Initiative
The Sustainable Forestry Initiative program is a voluntary, industry-driven effort developed to ensure that future generations will have the same abundant, healthy, and productive resources we enjoy today. Created in 1995 by the American Forest and Paper Association (the national trade organization representing the United States forest products industry), SFI is a program of comprehensive forestry and conservation practices.

Penn State Extension Youth Programs
Provides lesson plans in sustainable forestry, natural resources, water, earth sciences, and wildlife. The lesson plns have been designed by teachers for actual use in the classroom and meet Pennsylvania’s environmental and ecology education standards. Each lesson plan indicates subject matter, grade level, and regional applicability. The lesson plans can be adapted to fit your location.
